Child safeguarding

Child Protection Policy Update

There is obviously heightened awareness in the public sphere
concerning child protection issues in the Church and in the
Archdiocese of Dublin in particular. We must first consider those
who have been directly affected and assure them of our
complete support, if needed and when requested.

It is important to remind you that in this Diocese, guidelines in
this area are operated to the highest standard.

Safeguarding Children from the National Board for Safeguarding
children in the Catholic Church is the most up to date
church policy and is available at
www.safeguardingchildren.ie

The state guidelines Children First apply in all our schools and
Guidelines in the Diocese are consistent with state policy.

Anyone in this parish working with children—employees, volunteers
and priests are required to participate in Garda Vetting.
Details of that process are available at
www.dublindiocese.ie

The Child protection policy that operates in this parish is
available from the parish office and sacristy.

It is of utmost importance that anyone who may have suffered abuse
or who knows of anyone who may have suffered abuse is
aware that they can contact the Child Protection Service of the
Archdiocese at 01 8360314.
Their website is
www.cps.dublindiocese.ie

Every effort is made to try and ensure that children participating
in all aspects of parish life are safe and welcome.
I encourage everyone to familiarise themselves with the material
available to promote best practice in this parish
and in our daily lives.
